Do Online Classes Encourage Cheating?

In a recent study researchers investigated the cheating habits of students taking online classes and found that college students in an online class are more likely to cheat on an unproctored online quiz, regardless of whether or not they sign an honor code that condemns cheating. In the first study, 72.5 percent undergraduates admitted to cheating on online quizzes. In the second study 61.5 percent of students who signed an honor code, and 50 percent of students who did not sign a code, all admitted to cheating. The third study then mixed traditional learning with online work. The undergraduates who signed the honor code reported to cheating only 57.6 percent, while those who did not sign reported to cheating 81.8 percent. Thus, with the additional “real-life” social support of the honor code students were less “distant” from their classmates and professors, which likely led the students down the more honorable path.

Most of my friends that were going to college had rich parents so buying the books for class was no big deal for them. My parents were not poor but I didn’t think they should have to pay for the books, they were already paying for the college. So I went to the campus book store looking for those slightly used books. But they seemed to be out of them and the prices for the new books was out of my price range. I thought I was doomed, until I thought of going online and looking for a deal. I did a Google search for buy college textbooks cheap. At first I only saw a few guys who were trying to sell their old books from years ago, which would not help me in anyway. When singing a piece of music or a song, you might reach a certain part of the song that requires a little more attention to get it right. That’s where some vocal training exercises will help in polishing out kinks in your voice.

These exercises help you with the flexibility when you come across a particularly difficult phrase in the song or piece.

A simple exercise when you reach that phrase is to forget all the words, and sing just the vowels without the consonants. So for example, the phrase “Just a small town girl” would change to “UH ER OH AH ER”.

What this do is it trains your voice to remember the placement for these vowels, how they are suppose to shape when you sing those words. Get them as open as you can and feel absolutely no tension. After that, slowly put it the consonants, but always remembering the vowel shape.

Repeat the phrase until you can get it right, and then try again with the full song.

My time is important to me. Not a day goes by without me realizing that I value my life. I’m not sure if it’s because of how my parents raised me, or maybe it’s because I’ve had several family members pass away throughout my life, but regardless of the reason, I know that the day I lose faith in myself is the day that I lose meaning to my being. We all have a purpose here, and whether it’s for good or for greed, we should all be asking ourselves what our ultimate goal on this planet is. I’m not saying we no to go out and fight evil face to face, instead I’m suggesting that we at least are able to tell others, this is what I’m about. I like to do XY and Z and you can take it or leave it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a construction worker or Veterinary Technician, you should have an answer to the question, what do you want to do with your life.

We are starting to close out the 2011 scholarship year. Many of the scholarships and grants have already been awarded and those that haven’t are getting ready to be given out. The summer is here which usually means downtime in the scholarship world. Its time for those were looking into scholarships for high school juniors to start looking into scholarships for high school seniors.

Students that are entering their senior year should be gearing up to figure out their college situation. This summer is really the start of an exciting year. Its time to really start looking hard at the colleges you want to attend. Making sure your grades and other resume builders are in order. Its time to start thinking about getting those applications in. Its also a great time to start thinking about how you are going to pay for school and if scholarship opportunities are on the horizon for you.

Scholarships are a great way to help pay for school. Many kids who have done well academically will have a great shot at winning one of these scholarships. Just like with applying to college it is always best to start thinking about these applications early and getting as big of a head start as you can. Scholarship season begins the second the last one ended and now with high school seniors graduating this is that time. Your senior year officially begins the day your junior year ends and the summer is one part of that.

I always try to tell students that the summer before the senior year can be one of the most productive times of their lives. I know most kids don’t want to think about of it like that. They’d rather take the time to hang out with friends, go to the beach and just have a great time. The reality is you can do all this and still be productive. Taking a few minutes a week to research and look into the different scholarships that you may eligible for. Learn about what you need to have in order to apply for these opportunities and maybe get going on the applications can really help in the long run. These aren’t incredibly time consuming things and just a few minutes every other day or so will add up big time as the summer comes to a close. You will be in a position that is much further ahead of the pack when September comes and you will be glad you did.

Just remember all the decisions you make about college, college financing ect.. will be a big part of your life for years to come. Why not take the little bit of extra time to be productive and make it better on you in the end.

Now that my sister is a certified nurse, she’s looking into learning more about the nursing pay scale. I think it’s admirable that she took the plunge without knowing too much about the financial benefits of being a nurse; she does it because she loves helping people. However, she is trying to start a family with her husband and they’re hoping to buy a house within the next year while the market is still relatively open, so she’s very interested in how much money she can potentially make. My sister has an extra bit of pep in her step now that she’s finished up with school; it’s been a long and arduous journey for him but I never lost faith for a second that she would complete it. Many of her friends dropped out of the program citing that it was too hard for them, but my sister is not a quitter. I knew she’s see it through until the end.

Just the other day, we made a huge mistake in hiring someone for our medical practice. Typically speaking, we are very careful to check in with references, but we were in a serious bind. One of our billers had been hurt in a car accident, so we needed to replace her as soon as possible. We checked in with several applicants, and we thought that we had found the right one. We hired him on the spot hoping that he would be able to jump right on in and help us out. Little did we know that he did not actually have a medical billing certification.

We will be able to train him and get him up to snuff, but it’s really going to be a lot more work than it’s worth. He’s a hard worker, so it’ll work out fine in the end; we just wish that he had taken a few courses and learned the trade before he sent in his resume.
