I now live away from my parents. I chose to live away from them to learn to stand on my own and have my own way of living. There are many times that I miss them. A lot actually. But I keep myself busy to stop missing my family.
One day, on my way home from work, I passed by a house that had a window shade on the outside of their veranda window. I remember we also had that kind at my parents’ house. When I was in highschool, my parents decided to have our home extended. They added a second floor with 1 room and a terrace. The balcony was facing a wonderful view of the beach. And that’s what I loved about it. My dad and I used to sit there every afternoon and watch the sunset.
Since we are in a tropical country, we always experience typhoon. The window upstairs had a very wide opening so whenever the rain falls so hard, the water would come in and eventually wet the floor. Good thing my father decided to buy window shades. It was not only benificial but very stylish as well. My father bought bamboo shades to add a natural feel to the terrace. So whenever it rained or the sun was too bright, my father would just roll down the woven window shades to block the rain from coming in.
Everytime I pass by the house with the bamboo shades, I would now wear a smile on my face whenever I remember those moments with my dad.
