From a very early age I honestly thought that cylinder vacuum cleaners were the only type in existence. My mother had nothing else. It was only later in life that I found out about the upright versions. Anyone today who is in the market for a new vacuum should definitely consider an upright vacuum cleaner. As with anything there are plusses and minuses about the upright and it is worth considering these before venturing out into the marketplace.
Upright Vacuum Cleaners are by far the most sought after today. They are ergonomically correct and priced very reasonably. It has to be said though that all vacuums are not created equal.
One of the minuses or downsides to an upright vacuum is their inability to reach every nook, cranny and corner of the room. This is of course unless you treat yourself to a vacuum from the range of Dyson Vacuum Cleaners available. These all operate on the ball technology, an innovation that enables the upright to manoeuvre around where other uprights fail to go.
A cylinder vacuum though does have the capacity to reach all those seemingly unreachable areas of the house. With the long, flexible hose of a cylinder upright nowhere is safe be it a settee, sofa bed or any awkward places. One disadvantage using a cylinder is that it can cause a backache with the continual bending. Therefore if you are vacuuming a large area or use it on a fairly regular basis an upright would be far better for you.
Every type of vacuum has its pros and cons as we have already hinted at so make sure you shop around comprehensively before deciding what to buy.
Whether your final decision is an upright or a cylinder cleaner just ensure it is within your budget and that it meets your needs. It is a complete waste of money to invest in an upright if it means harder work.
